McCain pushed forward an ammendment to the next military appropriations bill which would require the treatment of 'detainees' and 'enemy combatants' to follow the same standards as POW treatment as detailed in the relevant Army Field Manuals.

Bush has claimed he will veto this.

Anyone surprised by this? That Bush would use pretty much the first veto of his *cough* career as pResident in Thief to derail a bill which would (in a perfect world) end torture of prisoners that don't meet the stringent criteria of POW?

So, which is more disturbing?

NASCAR theme crockpots ... or NASCAR wine?

Although I'd like one of the Tabasco themed crock-pots.

"I have a right as a human being to make a claim for anything that is not owned,"

That statement is a prime example of what is fundamentally wrong with us as a species. Yes, most animals lay claim to territories. The difference between them and us is we try to lay claim to property we will never conceivably even set foot on. Until that core greed can be expunged from us as a species; we will never evolve past the bickering filthy primates that we are currently.
