McCain pushed forward an ammendment to the next military appropriations bill which would require the treatment of 'detainees' and 'enemy combatants' to follow the same standards as POW treatment as detailed in the relevant Army Field Manuals.
Bush has claimed he will veto this.
Anyone surprised by this? That Bush would use pretty much the first veto of his *cough* career as pResident in Thief to derail a bill which would (in a perfect world) end torture of prisoners that don't meet the stringent criteria of POW?
