All corporation scumbags who lay-off people just before the holidays (or during depending on your religion) in order to make a good fiscal year presentation to the stockholders need to wake up each morning with a festering burning sore on their body for each person they've laid off.
Sometimes I think there's a good reason I stay in the lower tax brackets. I may not be able to afford things most of the time. But at least I don't get used to being able to travel and buy nice things and then have that all taken away because some suit wearing fucktard decides that his shareholders stock will rise an 1/8th of a point.

Your second paragraph there kinda hits me right where I used to live when I had a home of my own.
And it's just BAU... to top it off, it's not even surprising. I'm on the fookin' welfare now since I was denied UIB. I thought I'd have difficulties with them, but when interviewing with the worker, he asked, "What did you do, where did you work, what did you make, why did you leave?"
I started to answer, "programmer/manager, $MAJOR_ISP, $$$$$$" and he cut me off and completed my answer for me: "they fired you and then denied you UIB saying you quit... and now you can't pay someone to hire you because of that."
I'll stop now before I go off a-ranting. Corporations are not persons, they cannot vote, they do not bleed and die for their country, yet they reap unimaginable benefits from those "natural persons" while proclaimed by fiat and practice to be above every law those same "natural persons" are subject to and bearing none of the responsibilities commensurate with those benefits.
Trimming the beef to make way for more fat... it must be hollowday time again.
