Ummm yeah, I don't know what's more amusing.

1.) The fact that LJ thinks this may quell some of the ill will that their last fuckup made boil to the surface?

or

2.) How many people who claimed they'll not give LJ another red cent will end up beating down doors to be in the line for the permanent accounts.

... No, I'm not going to be one of them. I'm still going to scale back to a free account when my annual fee comes due again next year.

Year? Isn't it 2 dollars a month, the year would be 24, right? I'm pretty they really mean permanent accounts?

As I recall, they announced months ago that they were going to be offered permanent accounts in June, so I think it may all just be really "brilliant" accidental timing.

Oh I was referring to how they're going to give 25 bucks to various charities(*) for each permanent account sold in the first 36 hours.

Those charities revolving around rape prevention/victim support and Internet Free Speech among others is just a bit ... hypocritical I think.

(- I'm going to be TRULY dissappointed in my friends in my friends if I have to explain why I believe that to be hypocritical. -)

Oh, ha! I didn't even see that, I just skimmed the thing. That is pretty damn funny.

I wonder whether Six Apart's ownership had anything to do with the fiasco, just like Yahoo decided to do some really bizarre things with Flickr (oh, you are in Germany? Well then, all the pictures you have uploaded are now marked mature. And, you are in a country where we shall not allow you to see any images that are marked mature, not even your own. Have a nice day!)

Not to mention what the russian and eastern european members are going through due to Sux Dicks partnership with that Russian Information Gathering corporation.

$150 U.S. is still nearly $300 for me... So life membership, unless someone wants to buy me it, will elude me permanently...

I feel like such a ditz on the whole strikethrough thing.. looking at your icon. i think i'll have to make one that says 'i slept through the lj strikethrough of 2007'... from my friends list only you and momus made any reference to it..

from what i can gather they performed a broad spectrum witch hunt on a whole range of potentially 'harmful' communities and journals taking out many innocent ones in the process making some kind of retrospective apology of 'sorry we did take out some innocents'...that it?

I'm in the same boat, as soon as my account is up I go back to a free one. I just have no desire to give this company any more of my money I'm afraid.

I just LOVE the dickheads who are saying "Buy stock when they go public. Then they HAVE to listen to you."

Yeah, that's the ticket. Hold stock in a detestable company like Six apart. May I please buy some Haliburton stock next please?

Yes because my 10 shares of stock will really influence company policies. It's a delightfully innocent view of how corporate infrastructures work and the influence that anyone but a major stockholder would have. Just on a pragmatic level it makes no sense, but on a moral one it's downright nonsensical.
