Yup, I know exactly where you are coming from, the main difference , that I see, is that She Wants Revenge lyrics seem to come straight out of teen beat magazine. Although that may be giving them too much creadit.
And now Control: http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0421082/ It has been "in production" for a while now, under the title "Touching From A Distance".
I really liked the way Sean Harris played Ian in 24 Hour Party People, I don't think Sam Riley will be able to pull it off. Funny enough Sam Riley was in 24 Hour Party People as Mark E Smith.
It's been an amusing thing trying to collect all the bands that She Wants Revenge sort of sounds like: The Cure, Bauhaus, Interpol, Joy Division, and I think there were a couple of others too. I just call it catchy and danceable and fluffy, but I refuse to play the Gother Than Thou games.
I'm also amused that both of the main guys came from a house music background before forming this band on a lark.
...or are just simply the creators of the first single that has made me want to stab the "naughtynaughty" crowd in the face uncontrollably since Lord's of Acid's "show me your pussy."

Can I answer both?
Oddly, I kind of like them playing in the back-ground, but as soon as I start actively listening, the gag reflex begins.

That monotone drone for the vocals is just the tip of the iceberg.
Tracks titled "Out of Control" and "Tear you apart" can't be coincidence.

Oh I dunno, some my my best dates were because the lovely lass didn't close her italics.

There is a Joy Division movie in production. Maybe they hope to ride it's coattails?
Can't comment on the band, though, as I have not listened to them.

Joy Division ... movie ...
I'm going to have to reread that later. Reading that seems like looking straight into the idiot eye of Astaroth.

Someone on the BT forums got yelled at for saying they were copying Joy Division when it was "obvious they were copying Interpol".
The person responded with "And who was Interpol copying? I just got rid of the middleman."
