I love cats (go figure, with my icons!), but would never dream of demanding a meat-eating predator to eat an all vegetarian diet. That's just stupid! They aren't designed to handle that sort of food. OMNIVORES now... WE can choose to go all fruits-and-nuts, but that's a personal choice for most who do. Some cannot eat meat, but most just choose not to eat it.

you know, however stupid it might be, somewhere out there is someone who will *insist* that it's perfectly sensible. i have actually argued with people about vegan cats. :(

humans are omnivorous to varying degrees (it's a *really bad idea* for some inuit people to go vegan), and are welcome to eat whetever they like. i eat very little meat, loads of fish, and huge amounts of dairy. and eggs. god i'm sick of fresh free range eggs. it was such a relief to have one hen go off lay.

Some people insist that feeding animals a vegan diet makes them calmer, less likely to attack. I want to see the studies that prove that, but I doubt they could produce them.

Now before ripping on the Dutch, note that the people running the park - you know, the ones who said "Yeah, it doesn't happen much in here, but it does happen. So? Eh, I suppose we can move the monkeys over a bit." Dutch, as well. Also, jruske, most of the wasted people (who are pretty much exclusively in Amsterdam and nowhere else in the country)? Americans and UK citizens, generally, particularly American college-age slackers who show up after years of repression and "whee, party!".
