Something seems to be in the air and many couples I know are breaking up ...

This goes out to each of you enmasse, though it's directed mainly at the very slight few who've asked me to take sides.

DON'T

If I've been friends with you both while you were a couple; then I'm going to continue to be friends with you both after you split up. As long as you let me.

When couples break up, it's usually because of MANY things that have happened over the course of the time they were together. It's rarely one incident. And usually there's dirt on BOTH sides. Hence, I'm not taking sides.

I'm also not going to be a go-between. If one of you tells me something but don't want the other to hear it from me. Guess what's going to happen? That's right. They're not going to hear it from me.

Breakups hurt. It's natural to try to lash out and blame the other for everything. But let's try to be adults. Shall we?

I'm not trying to be cold. You both have my sympathy because they are NEVER easy. But my sympathy is in no way going to be turned to antipathy towards your ex.
