Be wary of dealing with Nokia's online store through letstalk.com ...

Using their current offer on the 5300 it would have been 160 dollars cheaper than going through T-Mobile themselves.

However letstalk.com claimed that T-Mobile wanted a 750 dollar deposit to add the new line to my family plan.

Of course I contacted T-Moblie immediately. I couldn't believe they'd require that ckind of deposit from a customer who'd been with them since 2003. The service rep couldn't understand why that store claimed a deposit was required. I decided to go through T-Mobile. The phone cost a bit more ... but at least they didn't try to rob me blind.

After I placed the order, I called back the company. I asked them why they claimed T-Mobile needed such a large deposit. The dickhead on the other end tried to claim my credit score warranted that since I had no history with T-Mobile.

"Now that is amusing. You see, I just got off the phone with T-Mobile. I've been a customer of theirs for about four years now. I've had a multiline plan with them for three. They couldn't understand why I would need a deposit to add a third line. Don't you find that funny?"

*** brief uncomfortable (for him) pause ***

"Are you saying you'd like to cancel the order, Sir?"

"I think that's a safe bet. Wouldn't you?"
