Hard disk crashed badly on Techgolem Alpha yesterday.
So I went to switch to another system to maintain contact with people until I am able to concentrate on fixing Alpha. I really need to remember to check all the systems after a move instead of waiting until I actually need one of them.
Techgolem Beta doesn't have a network card. Shite.
Techgolem Gamma DOES. But it's a 8 year old system that is on it's last legs. Shite.
The rest of the techgolems are all in various states of dissassembly. Shite.
So I go to boot up Gamma. No Go. Shite.
Ended up having to reformat and restore. Aggravation!
Didn't have drivers for the network .... GAHHHHHH!
70+ mile roundtrip trek in order to get new network card as there was no-one or nowhere in the area I could get drivers.
Since I wouldn't be able to play FF:XI on Gamma; I decided on getting a new router too as mine shit the bed back in Buffalo.
And DAMMIT! They had a sale on the new Bionicle line. Inika Toa Nuparu (Black Toa) is now standing guard on top of Gamma. It's his mission to make sure no demonic luddites enter Gamma. Because I REALLY cannot afford rebuilding a system completely until after DragonCon.
Finally, most of my contact info is also locked up in Alpha. I only managed to get a few people to send my snailmail info and such when I requested it a few months ago. SOOOOO, if you want me to be able to get ahold of you; you'll have to get ahold of me.
