The club I mentioned in previous posts has been shut down. Unfortunately, the details about what actually happened are as reliable as something you hear on FAUX NEWS.
* At least four different channels (both radio and television) have claimed that the shooting happened outside the club last Friday night.
Ummm, sure, it happened outside the club ... outside, down the block and around the corner. But saying that wouldn't be good copy and wouldn't give the mayor an excuse to close them down. Sweet Black Jesus!!! Using that reasoning you might as well have said it happened outside MY club since it's closer to where the shootings happened and since at least one of the victims manged to run up to the doors of the club and hide between two cars.(1)
* They claim the incident happened due to lack of security in the club.
It was the nine squad cars worth of police who cleared the club out and let them take their beers and drinks out into the street. The club security had their hands tied in that regard.
If the shooting had happened INSIDE the club then the club security would be at fault for not being able to feel a firearm during a frisking. Such wasn't the case. The shooting happened a full 15 minutes after the club had been cleared out and most of the street crowd had already moved onto Huron street in order to get to their cars. My opinion is that the shooter got the gun out of his car and he never had it inside the club at all.
* They claim that the owner of the building has "evicted" the club due to this latest incident.
The owner of the building is the father of the club owner. Somehow I doubt he's going to evict his own son.
NONE of the stories mention the stabbing which was originally claimed to have happened at the Basement and prompted NINE squad cars and various unmarked cars to converge on our street last Friday night.
I swear, it really is like listening to FAUX NEWS talking about the great job Shrubbie and Co. are doing with the economy, the environment and education. If I thought it would do any good I would write to the local paper about the falsehoods that are being spread in order to expedite the closing of the Basement.
The only good thing about the Basement closing is that maybe now there will be a closer eye put on the Utopia. But then again, a false claim against the Basement warranted all those cops. An actual BRAWL that required the Utopia to be cleared out only "deserved" ONE single solitary patrol vehicle. I guess I shouldn't hold my breath in hoping the Utopia is closed anytime soon eh?
(1) - Earlier that night a very young, very naive "child" who is a regular of the club had been asking me if I would teach her how to hurt people. After the excitement had wound down I took her outside and made her look at the pool of blood in the street. "You see that? That's mortality."
Needless to say, she doesn't want to learn from me anymore.
