HELLBOY

As I told the PTB at the Cont weeks ago, I came into work late due to my NEED to see the premiere of HELLBOY. As I was driving her home before I went to the club, [livejournal.com profile] ladycelest waited patiently for me to geek out. She said afterwards that she didn't want to be obvious about it by looking at her watch.

They tweaked the storyline quite a bit but a fan could still tell they were basing it off "Seed of Destruction". There wasn't enough Abe Sapien in it to make me happy but they picked a great voice for him. The clipped proper tones of David Hyde Pierce coming from "Icthyo Sapien April 14 1865" was priceless.

The only major gripe I have with the flick is there was a scene where Hellboy's stone hand was on the left arm and he was holding the Samaritan in his right. I'd have to see the movie again to see if perhaps it was just a bad splicing job done by an incompetent projectionist. Wouldn't be the first time some asshat with no experience has reversed feeds.

The pancakes were a nice touch to those of us who are fans of the comic.

Just goes to show that Dark Horse Comics can have a movie made of their characters without it blowing goats and/or sodomizing the storyline and origin of the characters. Something Marvel has STILL not been able to do. All you fanboys of the X-Men fiascos don't even bother talking to me. The timeline, storyline and character origins were raped without lubricant repeatedly and without mercy.
