A DAY IN THE LIFE OF JOE REPUBLICAN

razorjakJoe gets up at 6am and fills his coffee pot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water quality standards. With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication. That medication is safe to take because some stupid Commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and efficacy.
All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance---and now Joe gets it, too.
Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some girly man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat-packing industry.
In his morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much of what it contained.
Joe gets dressed, walks outside, and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks to the subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.
Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and DIED for these working standards. Joe's employer adheres to these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union.
If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed through no fault of his own, he'll get a worker's compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn't think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.
It's noon and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.
Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime.
Joe is finally home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm in the country. He gets in his car, ready for the long drive. His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards.
He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans. The house didn't even have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification.
Joe is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so that Joe wouldn't have to.
Joe gets back into his car for the drive home and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. The host doesn't mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day...indeed, throughout his LIFE. Joe agrees. "We don't need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of himself, just like I have."

What's strange jack is that you of all people seem to dislike mothering by people/government. Safety standards are nice, but its a bit odd that you can't buy an M151 Mutt or ex military HMMWV because the panty waisted liberals think they're unsafe and the conservatives want to defend the auto industry's market.... What would you do if some liberal succeeded in mandating seat-belts for motorcycles as some have in the past? God knows some have tried for some inexplicable reason.
Balance is what's needed. And a government that pays attention to the constitution.

Most definately. There are groups that realize that one has to keep a population viable in order for it to be hunted without a negative impact on the ecosystem.

However. Once I got into the work force and saw a few things I realized that the pendulum has swung way too far the other direction. For instance, I could not photo copy my time sheet on the department's xerox machine at Lockheed Martin when I worked there as a contractor supporting their computers. That was a Union Mandated Job. A hold over from the days when there were a squadron of AM Union workers that ran the Mimeograph machines. The Mimeograph machines are all gone, but the union members are guaranteed their jobs, so they have to operate the photo copier. Many of them were then doing art and design work on the publications computers that I supported, but for me to use the photo copier would violate union rules and involve lots of paperwork and probably some kind of fine for me.
Then there's CNN's requirement to not use our own Camermen, but rather the Union guys in NYC. We had to use theirs or none at all. We resorted to using some remote control cameras. Then there's the electrical union in NYC. 2 of our engineers unpacked and assembled a Phone System for our new corporate building in NYC, off site, in about a day. Then they packed it up, shipped it over and the IBEW local 3 boys took a week to assemble it per union rules.
I've got a very poor opinion of union workers that use the union as a means of being lazy fucks that can't get a job done right in a minimum of time. I do however like union workers that see their status as a requirement for excellent work. I watched some souther pipe fitters that were union assemble the pipes for a Chilled water cooling unit in one of our data centers in less than 8 hours. They were fast, they didn't take mandated breaks, they did very neat work and were efficient at their jobs.
Unions should not be a shelter for dip shits. The often are and when they are I have zero sympathy for the union as a whole. Not to say that some members do have a clue and could give a damn about the petty rules (like photo copying my time sheet at LockMart).

I don't understand why ANYONE would want one of those. Friggin fiberglass deathtraps with rubberband engines. I was in during the transition phase. Some units still had the blazers. I much preferred driving the blazer.
The only thing I liked about the HMMWV was manning the rooftop gunseat on maneuvers.
