The real problem is that there are only two sides, instead of rational discussion of issues and potential solutions (along with risks, mitigations, and impacts) by rational adults.
Instead, you can't express an opinion without some pinhead who has party-politics religion wading in to queer the discussion by shouting senseless talking points.
