The Spanish American War just won't be the same.

No more headlines of "TO HELL WITH SPAIN!! REMEMBER THE MAINE!"

Actually, come to think of it, our text book just has "Remember the Maine." I fill in the "To hell with Spain" part.

bastards.

It's stuff like this that makes me have nothing but respect for anyone who can actually succesfully teach english or history without going insane.

Another reason why I think they only thing I could ever possibly teach would be mathematics.

I'm considering getting certified to teach English, but if this how it is going to be, I think I may pass. What a bunch of crap! Let's deny people experiences just because it hurts someones feelings. It's one thing to hurt someone physically, but to be offended by a book because the title is 'The Old Man and The Sea' is ridiculous.

If I do teach I can only hope to follow in the footsteps of my favorite English teacher who secretly gave some of us 'subversive' literature to read outside of the classroom. I'll always remember him for that, and will always be greatful.

you could get a job in a private institution...

not the ones with padded rooms, but, ya know... a place that actually teaches... where the teachers have things to say, the students all wear the same clothes, and noone gets paid anything near scale...

I loathed my education at the time... and now, I'm glad that I was taught to think...

but not spell.

welcome to the "physical ground" of the "people have no rules", and the "living place" of the "peoples who will attempt to overcome the odds"

dayum... I thought that I could actually do better than that...

Good points. I was considering teaching night school. I hadn't really thought of private schools.

Although maybe the ones with padded rooms would be better... interesting people with 'different' perspectives on the world. hmm...

Now is the time to cue up Voltaire's "They Know Me" isn't it?
