About an hour ago, just as I was about to go to bed, my neighbor knocks on my front door.

I figured she was going to ask me if I'd help her drag the trashcans to the curb. She's in her early 70s and is going in for back surgery at the end of the month. Sweet woman. Works for the local school district as a bus driver.

No, she didn't need help with the trashcans. She wanted to make sure I knew that she can backed into my car with the schoolbus.

I think the officer who filled out the police report was a bit weirded out that I wasn't mad.

Guess, I'll be going to get estimates this morning instead of sleeping.

Oy! That's not cool, at least for the car.

I get the feeilng that you've arrived at the same conclusion that I have, that after you reach a certain age and have lived out most of your life, you've earned a little bit of leeway (as long as you're not killing anyone).

Oh no! Is the car badly damaged?

At least she told you. Lots of people would just drive off.

That's what I was telling her. She wasn't panicking but I could tell she was really upset over the whole thing.

It's just the lights and grill. So mostly cosmetic. But since I work nights. I need to get those fixed pronto.

Well that and I take into consideration the road condition.

There's a thin coat of powder over a sheet of glare ice out there.

Lights and grille bolt on, so I wouldn't care in the slightest. I think I'd get upset about my Sera being pranged only once it reached inner wings, or rear panel area. Or if they just ran off, of course.

It would have been a shame for the structure of your car to be damaged, given what a nice find it was.

Well, there was some minor body damage it seems now that we saw it in light of day. The fender has to be hammered out and repainted.

try a paintless body repair company. seriously - they have special tools and 1337 sk1llz that work wonders. Richard staved in one rear quarter of his contract hired Peugeot, and Dentmasters managed to make it look as good as new. if you didn't know, you'd never have found the damage.

alternately, you may find that the fender is also a bolt-on part. many are. and a new primer painted one may not cost much at all.
