Goodbye, Old man Twist.
We had a serious set of storms last night. 50+ mph winds, lightning striking in bursts so close together you COULDN'T count the miles and horizontal rain.
The beautiful old buckeye tree with the twisted trunk was a casualty.
I came home to find him split down the middle. The half that fell, luckily, fell away from the houses and narrowly missed my neighbor's car.
The city just finished cutting the rest of him down since more than ten feet of heartwood was exposed.
All that's left is sawdust and a closely sawed down stump.
I'm really really sad now. I loved that tree.
