The reason I've been so quiet the last few days is ...

I've no computer.

For years I've been frankensteining pieces from various machines to keep at least ONE running system. Hell, I managed to keep a packard bell 486 running until 2000.

But, now (wiping tears away) I've cobbled my last cobblepart. I've no working system at the moment.

On the plus side, turned out the expensive furnace repair job I was dreading ended up being the power company being slackasses and not checking the lines into the houses on my block. A branch rubbing against the line to my house wore a hole in the cable.

The tree was giving enough insulation/resistance to give partial power to my house (ie I was getting about 95-100watts to the house). Not enough to run the blower.

Sooo, since I was budgeting a couple hundred for furnace repair ...
I just bought a shiny new Cooler Master AMMO case with a 600w modular power supply, a new motherboard and cpu ( low end for now. I just wanted something I could still slide my AGP vide card into ).

So I'll be up and running again after a lot of sweating a cursing in a few days.

DAMN - I've been jonesing some onlininess for DAYS now.
