The LAST SIN EATER
Damned this was a good movie. Of course, I'm a bit biased as I've always had a fascination with the subject of the sin eater ever since I first heard of the custom back when I was a wee lil sprod.
Sure it's preachy. It's a story of morality. But I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
I've only seen a handful of screenplays before which even mention the sin eater. Two were shorts on television ( Night Gallery, where John Boy Walton is forced by his mother to become the new sineater. and Sci-Fi's EXPOSURE, where a jaded socialite makes a deal with a sickly sin eater she meets at an Irish wake. ) that were really well done. One was a friggin ludicrous taffypull of the tradition called the ORDER which had the Sin Eater being akin to the Wandering Jew or Longinus.
This one was by far the best. I highly recommend it.
How can you not love a movie that has both Eliot from ET all growed up, and Nurse Ratchett as the local Wise Ole Biddy?
