There's a small public park across the street from my apartment building. I can see all of it. There are some gutter kids riding ther bikes up onto the bike racks and even one of the sculptures trying to outdo the other in "style"

As a former extreme inline skater, I would say...
...not at all. The harder the better.
When I skated, I did not grind on ANYTHING. I respected the property (even though it is the University) I skated on, and would not do anything to destroy it, knowing that if the property was damaged, then ordinances would be enforced to restrict skating on campus.
