Stress = Having to repress the instinctual response when someone opens up a pocket-knife and points the blade at me.
(- ie grab the wrist which is wielding the knife and jamming my fingertips into the elbow to deaden the lower arm. -)
Semi-drunk guest at work tonight was flailing his arms at me complaining about how the machines were the tighest in the state. While I was trying to calm him down, his buck-knife flew out of his pocket and landed on the floor between us.
"Sir, that has to leave the gaming floor."
- "Why? It's not the big." (- he says as he reachs down and opesn it as he's standing back up ... the blade pointed at me when he's fully upright again. -)
"Sir, no blade or multi-tool is allowed on the gaming floor. It has to leave the floor." (- fighting every instinct in the book because I'd have gotten fired if I reacted the same way as I would if the same thing happened on the street. -)
- "Why?" (- still holding the knife open, but not pointing it at me anymore. -)
" Because the only options are you taking it off the floor and returning without it, leaving the casino altogether or my contacting tribal police due to you brandishing a weapon on property. "
...
GAHHH!
After I got him to leave the floor and put it in his car I REALLY needed a cigarette!
