Got a call the other day and it's just not hit me ...

My mom called to tell me that Gary had retired from his job early due to inoperable cancer. He's at the stage that it's only a matter of time before he's gone.

Gary is the stepdad of one of the three people I was able to call "best friends" while growing up. He's the one who gave me more advice about life than my dad did while I was a teen. I probably spent more time talking to Gary in my teen years than I did my dad.

I am having a hard time thinking of how the next time I am able to go home that I might not be able to go over and have a beer with him.

April 11th

I pick up the keys to the apartment in seven days. Anyone with a van or truck who wants to help me move the crap to my new place?

Standard pay for helping me move ... ie lunch at the Mota Mahil ( hope I spelled that right ) and gas if your help includes providing a vehicle.
