Yeah ... I think not.

Ummm yeah, I don't know what's more amusing.

1.) The fact that LJ thinks this may quell some of the ill will that their last fuckup made boil to the surface?

or

2.) How many people who claimed they'll not give LJ another red cent will end up beating down doors to be in the line for the permanent accounts.

... No, I'm not going to be one of them. I'm still going to scale back to a free account when my annual fee comes due again next year.

As I recall, they announced months ago that they were going to be offered permanent accounts in June, so I think it may all just be really "brilliant" accidental timing.

Oh I was referring to how they're going to give 25 bucks to various charities(*) for each permanent account sold in the first 36 hours.

Those charities revolving around rape prevention/victim support and Internet Free Speech among others is just a bit ... hypocritical I think.

(- I'm going to be TRULY dissappointed in my friends in my friends if I have to explain why I believe that to be hypocritical. -)

Oh, ha! I didn't even see that, I just skimmed the thing. That is pretty damn funny.

I wonder whether Six Apart's ownership had anything to do with the fiasco, just like Yahoo decided to do some really bizarre things with Flickr (oh, you are in Germany? Well then, all the pictures you have uploaded are now marked mature. And, you are in a country where we shall not allow you to see any images that are marked mature, not even your own. Have a nice day!)

Not to mention what the russian and eastern european members are going through due to Sux Dicks partnership with that Russian Information Gathering corporation.
