Geekery collection ...
It's common knowledge that I HATE episodes I-III of Star Wars. It's almost as common knowledge that I DESPISE the digital assfucking that Lucas did to episodes IV-VI.
Someone slap me. I went and did something I swore I'd never do.
I bought the remasters of episodes IV-VI today. But only for disc 2 of each movie. As that's probably the only way I'll have DVD versions of the REAL versions.
I'll probably have a little ceremony of dremeling the digifucked version discs. Much the way we did when Wimpire Province ( errr I mean *cough* Vampire Nation ) sent a promo disc to the Continental all those years ago.
Also picked up the complete series of the SPACE SENTINELS & the FREEDOM FORCE.

Gee, thanks.
I'd almost forgotten about him.

At least you didn't have be inflicted with his presence in your club.
Do you know how hard it was to maintain my professional attitude when he opened for Gene Loves Jezebel at my club? It took all my willpower to not storm the stage and shove the keyboard he was boo-bleeping on straight up his rectum.
The doorman (the huge black guy I've mentioned before) heard the shite he was playing and cried out, "Please Jesus! Tell me that shit ain't coming from the stage."

That's why I bought the movies. Lucas the noodler finally released the original theatrical version on DVD yesterday. But he, being the fuckstick trying to use his beard to fake having a jawline that he is, refused to release them solo. They're "bonus features" on disc 2 of the new edition of the assraped digital refucked-up versions.

If only I still had a laserdisc player.
Alas, that was one of the electronics lost in the fire of '98. Along with all my laserdiscs except for Monty Python & the Quest for the Holy Grail and the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

don't go getting all hatey on ja ja now... :P

It's not about hating jarjar. It's about hating Lucas' noodling and his bullshit about "This is what I REALLY wanted to show when I dreamt up Star Wars in the first place."
See, I've seen Kakushi-toride no san-akunin. So Lucas claiming he came up with the idea all on his own is bullshit. This becomes evident when Lucas attempts to get away from the storyline he lifted. There end up being plotholes that the Death Star could fly through.
That's why episodes I-III are such shite. Lucas bought into his own lie that he's a storyteller. He's not. He's a man who knew how to take tech and make it into something which made money.

hats off to him though for creating an empire of ass kissers. that takes some cunning.

Maybe so. But, in the end, isn't usually being surrounded by people who say you can do know wrong what really ends up being the downfall of an "emperor"?

but i digress.

You mean without "Steve Martin" aka Raymond Burr in it?
I heard there was a newly released print of the original floating out there.

I saw it in Korea ages and ages ago. The movie is so much better without the american noodling it received a few years after it was originally released.

Microwaving does great stuff to CDs. It's like an electrical storm contained in a disc. Really pretty. Why don't you try one with a DVD? Just nevermind the smell of electrical fire...that's just the burnt media, not your microwave. :)
Also great with CDs, are flinging them at full force, frisbee/discus style. They don't fly very straight, but if you throw one hard enough, it makes the coolest whizzing noise in the air. It'll shatter once it hits the wall, and cleanup is a mess...but for just that one brief instant, you get that cool whizzing noise. :)
Just some random disc destruction suggestions, aside from the Death by Dremel. :)
