(no subject)

To those on my friends list leaning farther and farther to EITHER side of center.

You're both (left and right) sounding more and more like cracked nutjobs every day. Seriously, seek help.

Too many of you (with specific people in mind, of course) seem to want to pidgeonhole me into that most stupid US or THEM category.

I hate Bush, his puppetmasters and their toadies with a passion slighlty less than inferno level. That does not mean I am anti-gun, anti-death penalty, etc etc etc ... Individuals on both sides seem not to understand this. Sadly, I expected more from the one that has been harping on me about it the most lately.

The enemy of my enemy is not automatically my friend.

That is all.

Very well put!

good for you.
i actually have surprised people when i express that i have full sympathy for the gun lobby, since i've been very open about my hatred of guns. but i realized something very important, and that is that you can't pick and choose your freedoms from a menu - if you want to have one you have to fight for them all. and since i'm such a privacy and free speech/free protest freak, i can't be against the right to bear arms without being one of the worst hypocrites.

um, that was my way of saying "go you, me too" ;)

How the fuck did we not create a crater when we shook hands? We're the same guy.

I've wondered that myself.

because people want to label things and other people with one, simple label, even if it is asinine to do so. They want everyone, and everything, to fit nicely into a box with a name on it, and there is to be no deviation.

I'm not a fucking Democrat, or a Liberal. I am ME. I may have leanings that often fall in one of those categories, but I believe in issues, not some party ideology or whatnot. It makes no sense to me.

Somewhere in the middle

I tend to think that this weird bi-partisan country we're currently living in can't possibly last for too terribly much longer. There has to be some balance, some acknowledgement that most of us fall somewhere in between the two extremes. It'd also be nice if people who admitted they hated Bush and his administration weren't all lumped into one anti-American, terrorist-loving category.

What are the real characteristics I see in people who, like me, loathe this administration? Well the biggest one is a desire for mature, thoughtful leadership that doesn't frame every discussion in terms of fear, hatred and bigotry. We love our country, but as Al Franken once put it, as an adult, aware of its faults and loving it in spite of them.

I'm sorry but any government held in high esteem by the likes of Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh should give us all pause.

sounding more and more like cracked nutjobs every day

i wonder if that's really possible in my case. :P
