R.I.P Hellboy

Monies are going to be tight after the little bombshell Frank dropped on us last night. Hence I've decided not to invest the rest of the money in the Hellboy costume for DragonCon. Really the only thing I needed left to buy was a brown duster. But I can't find one in my size ( 52" chest - well technically it's 50" but sizes usually end up at either 48" or 52" so I steer towards a little more room ) for under $100. That $100 can be much better used in other areas at this time.

4 days till we roll out. See you Atlanta types thursday night - friday morning ...

Argh, that sucks :( Now if you had mad sewing skillz, you could whip yourself up one. If I felt confident enough in my sewing skills for things other than diapers and random crap for me, I'd do it.

Saw it ... Not going to spend 200 on something I could make on my own.

Now THIS (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?item=8911&type=store) I would have spent the money on.

DOn't see the point. I really can't justify spending that kind of money on a prop.

I have friends going to DragonCon. And my friends have friends going to DragonCon. And really, if the word got out that this brown duster was needed, someone going to DragonCon just might have one available. ... It's worth a shot. Shall I start asking around? Or would you prefer to let the content slide until you're certain you can do it right?

[identity profile] razorjak.livejournal.com 2004-08-28 11:41 am (UTC)(link)

The latter ... at this point I'm just going to DragonCon and "relaxing" amongst the geeks. I'll just work harder on the costume for next year.

*nod*

And that should have said "costume," not "content." I think my brain was trying to ask whether you were content to not have costume, and the wires got crossed in typing. ;)

FWIW, when it *does* pan out, I definitely want to see pictures.

I say you dress up anyway, sans duster, and go for the 'sporty' Hellboy look. T'wound be a shame to miss out on a golden opportunity. Besides, you might meet someone who has a duster they can loan you for the weekend while you're there.
