We're no longer allowed to assemble or protest.

Can we say "doomed to repeat history"? This just takes the cake. Ashcroft is once again emulating his idol, McCarthy.

" In addition to the subpoena of Drake University, subpoenas were served this past week on four of the activists who attended a Nov. 15 forum at the school, ordering them to appear before a grand jury Tuesday, the protesters said. "

" Those served subpoenas include the leader of the Catholic Peace Ministry, the former coordinator of the Iowa Peace Network, a member of the Catholic Worker House, and an anti-war activist who visited Iraq in 2002. "

That really does piss me off. Our civil liberties and protection under the Constitution are quickly going flush in one swirly.

Quick question: After reading the article, exactly how does "simply going limp and resisting arrest" equate to "misdemeanor assault of an officer"?

Lovely ain't it?

Actually I'm surprised FAUX NEWS actually covered that story. They're usually sucking on Bush and Co.'s collective cock.

Greeeeeat. And to bring it a little closer to home, I wouldn't be surprised if [livejournal.com profile] idiosynchronic, one of my college bfs and now-husband to Drake University's Wesley Foundation (United Methodist ministry to college students) pastor, were involved.
