A friend of mine made this observation.

Now that a lot of airports are mandating ALL electronics be put in checked baggage instead of carry-on ...

What do you think the chances of TSA contractors opening up eBay accounts en masse?

Well I was going to be taking my external hard drive with all of my music with me to Cali, but since its not labled as an external drive, its just in a black plastic case...I think I will be UPS'ing it there and back. I cant count how many times I have gotten home this past year and a half after a trip to open my bag and finding a note telling me that "for your safety and the safety of other passengers, your bags have been randomly searched" ....Why do I need protection from my own luggage???

Back before the utter madness of 9/11, I flew with a large ceramic unicorn packed in my clothing (and a bit of foam). When I checked it in, I asked if they could inspect it then and seal it so no one would inspect it later, as the unicorn was a gift for a friend and I didn't want pottery shards all over, either. They gladly did this for me, and allowed me to repack it (in front of them), and sealed it.

I often wonder now if they would even consider letting this happen...
