Short of more than half of DC having a massive seizure and dying, more originalist on the bench on SCOTUS is the only way to reverse 80 years of crap collectivist law and court cases we've been saddled with.

Besides, what's different about Alito that prevents the same folks that voted to confirm him in 1990 from doing so now? Is it only because Bush nominated him this time instead of Frank Lautenberg in 1990?

From [livejournal.com profile] madkiwi's post:

The following Senators voted for Alito in 1990 when he was confirmed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit:

Christopher Dodd
Joseph Lieberman
Joseph Biden
Daniel Inouye
Tom Harkin
Paul Sarbanes
Barbara Mikulski
Edward Kennedy
John Kerry
Carl Levin
Max Baucus
Harry Reid
Frank Lautenberg
Jeff Bingaman
Kent Conrad
Patrick Leahy
Robert Byrd
Jay Rockefeller
Herbert Kohl

Two of these (Conrad and Byrd) represent 50% of the Democrats who voted for Alito to be confirmed as a Justice of the Supreme Court. At least they are consistent. Maybe even worthwhile human beings, although I am not sure about Byrd.

Frank Lautenberg was the Senator who introduced and recommended Justice Alito to the Senate Judiciary Committee in 1990!

Can we say hypocrisy?
