Regardless of my own political leanings, I see the US has the same problem as the UK. The literate few who discuss, enjoy and follow politics and political debate will always focus on the parties and leaders. When really is the illiterate fucked-up masses you've gotta watch out for. I'm especially horrified by the Ohio interpretation which (according to the news I've read) bans all 'legal approximations' of marriage between same sex couples.
It'd be one thing if the populous had voted against, then the administration had gone with it anyway, but it looks like where it has been an issue, it's been strongly supported.
