See, my memory goes back to Gerald Ford as the president. I remember Carter being elected. This being the case, I remember how shitty a President that Reagan actually was.

This was the man who tested the microphone before a press conference by saying, "My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes."

This was the man who's administration declared ketchup was a vegetable.

This was the "Great Communicator" who was the biggest sockpuppet in the history of the country until ole Smirky McFuckstick stole the Oval Orifice.

Reagan's dead ... at 93 ... proof that only the good die young.

I hear ya. I remember crying when Carter lost. Then again, I was really rooting to Kennedy. Those were the days when if you were white trash, you were a democrat. My how times have changed.

Reagan did give a lot to the country though. Mostly some pretty good music from the 80's. I mean.. would the dead kennedys have happened if it weren't for Reagan?

"Idiot Son of an Asshole" seems to be the 'shining' example of what the new breed of music lacks in their attempt to slag Smirky (can't ride a bike or segway) McBumbleFuck. There really isn't much more than that out there.

I've noticed that. Then again, in 1983 I was still crushing on Simon Lebon instead of Jello Biafra... But yeah, there's no good political music nowadays. Everyone's afraid because of 9/11.

This was the man who, as my commander-in-chief, sent me to Central America to do Really Bad Things™ to decent (even if angry) people.

I will grant that as a Man, he had some saving graces... but as a leader of Men, he was just another follower. I'll honour his passing as is due any holder of the highest free office in the world, out of respect for the office.

I'll mourn when my fellow Georgian passes... if he ever does. How many former Presidents build/built houses for the underprivileged? You can count them all on your third leg.

Not as up to par as barfing on a foreign leader...with the cameras rolling...but it's up there.

I'm not even going to get started on this. Some TART just sounded off in my journal about my being sick and tired of this long, drawn out funeral. And she said "The entire country will be in mourning".

The ENTIRE COUNTRY...

Uh. Minus one: Me. I feel bad. I mean... he died. Death sucks. But I have more personal losses to mourn, thanks.

Actually, ironically, Ketchup turned out to be a good antioxidant, so it's actually... kinda like a vegetable... :-P

Other than that, he was outta office before my memory really starts... I remember almost nothing before 1988, and nothing of politics in any way before at least 1998, if not later... So... he died. Enough already, he was old, he'd live, the country will survive... too bad another president couldn't have died...
